Artist Bio

Lisa Libretto is an abstract painter based in Norwell, Massachusetts, whose work explores the expressive possibilities of color, texture, and the natural landscape. Working primarily in acrylic, oil, and encaustic, she creates intuitive, abstracted landscapes that reflect her close observation of the natural world.
A lifelong student of art, Libretto has pursued artistic study throughout her life, taking courses and working alongside artists in the communities where she has lived. Her creative perspective has been shaped by time spent in Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as Helsinki, Finland, and Walton-on-Thames, England. Living in different environments heightened her awareness of place, atmosphere, and the subtle ways a landscape can leave an impression.
After working in corporate roles through much of her twenties and thirties, a move overseas with her family created an opportunity to devote more attention to her artistic practice. Her natural curiosity continues to drive her work. She is continually experimenting with materials and techniques, interested not only in what an artwork communicates, but in the process of discovering how it can be made.
Photography provides another outlet for this sense of observation and exploration. While her photographic work is largely a personal practice, looking through the lens has strengthened her attention to light, composition, and fleeting moments in nature—sensibilities that also find their way into her paintings.
Libretto’s paintings are represented by Galaray House in Boston and have been exhibited in art shows and festivals throughout the region. Her work is held in private and corporate collections.
In 2025, Libretto established her studio and gallery in Norwell, Massachusetts, where she continues to paint, experiment, and explore the intersection of observation, material, and abstraction.
